아무런 홍보 없이 발표되었음에도 불구하고 [evermore]는 디지털 다운로드와 스트리밍 만으로 33만 장의 판매고를 기록하며 테일러 스위프트에게 통산 8번째 빌보드 앨범 차트 1위를 안겨주었다. [folklore]로 정상을 차지한 지 불과 4개월 18일 만에 다시 1위를 거머쥔 덕에 테일러 스위프트는 차트 역사상 가장 단기간에 각기 다른 앨범으로 1위에 오른 여성 아티스트로 기록되었고, 그녀는 크리스마스 캐럴들이 점령한 12월 26일 자 차트의 새로운 승자가 되었다.
그저 [folklore]를 발표한 후에 곡 쓰는 것을 멈출 수 없어서 완성했다는 [evermore]는 코로나19로 외로운 겨울을 보내고 있을 사람들에게 위로가 되길 바라는 마음에서 발표한 것이다.
