클래식 명곡을 지휘자 루이스 클락이 획기적인 감각으로 편곡한 그 역사적인 앨범 "Hooked On Classics"은 영국과 미국의 "Classics Best Chart"에 당당히 1위에 올랐고 세계 주요 음반시장의 Top10에 진입하며 27개국에서 Gold와 플래티넘의 영광을 거두었다. 이어 발매된 "Hooked On Classics 2"와"Hooked On Classics 3"도 1집 못지않은 판매고를 올렸으며 지금도 꾸준히 팔리고 있는 "Hooked on Classics"시리즈는 전세계적으로 일천만장이상의 경이적인 판매량을 기록하고 있다.
80년대 초반 국내에서도 "Hooked on Classics"열풍은 대단했다. Track마다 십여곡의 클래식명곡을 골라 주제부분을 발췌하여 메들리 형식으로 묶어 팝적인 리듬(일명 : Hooked on Beat)을 결들인 루이스 클락의 편곡은 당시 클래식 애호가들에게는 일종의 음악적인 쇼크였다. 당연히 클래식 매니아들의 반발도 거셌지만 일반 애호가들에게는 또 다른 즐거움을 선사하였다.
