오페라의 유령은 미국의 앤드류 로이드 웨버가 프랑스의 소설가인 가스통 르 루의 소설, 오페라의 유령을 바탕으로 작곡한 뮤지컬이다. 이 뮤지컬은 웨버에 의해 작곡되었고, 찰스 하트에 의해 작사되었으며, Richard Stilgoe가 추가 작사를 했다.
이 뮤지컬은 파리 오페라를 공포에 떨게 한 정체 불명이고 추악한 얼굴의 뮤지컬의 유령이라는 뮤지컬 천재에게 사로잡히게 되는 아름다운 가수, 크리스틴 디에를 중심으로 하고 있다. 사실 이는 작곡가가 로열 스탠다드 이스트 극장에서 1984년 같은 내용을 바탕으로 한, 켄 힐의 동명의 다른 오페라를 보고 영향을 받은 것이다. 이는 특별히 당시의 작곡가의 아내인 사라 브라이트만을 위해 쓰여진 것이기도 하며, 그는 초연에서 여주인공 크리스틴 역할을 맡았다.
1988년 토니상에서 작품상, 남우주연상, 여우주연상, 연출상, 장치상, 조명상을 휩쓸었다.대한민국에서는 2001년에 초연되었다. 2004년 12월 8일 뮤지컬 '오페라의 유령'은 영화로 개봉되었다.
