1987년 발매된 앨범 'Bad' 에서 7번째로 싱글 커트된 마이클 잭슨의 노래. Dangerous와 더불어 마이클잭슨의 최고의 퍼포먼스 댄스곡으로 평가 받는 곡. 1987년 10월 24일날 공개됐고 빌보드 차트 7위를 기록했다. 그러나 1- 5번째까지 싱글 커트된 노래들이 모두 1위를 기록한 것에 비하면 다소 아쉬운 성적.

 

마이클 잭슨 특유의 퍼포먼스 댄스와 음악을 보여주는데, 가사를 살펴보면 굉장히 독특하다. 왜냐하면 애니라는 여성이 집에 몰래 침입한 괴한에게 살해당하는 내용이기 때문이다. 'Annie, are you OK?'라는 가사가 수도 없이 반복되는데, 이 애니는 심폐소생술용 교육인형인 'CPR 애니'에게서 따왔다는 것이 거의 정설이다. 또한 이 곡은 Am키(가단조)로 되어 있는데, 일반적인 A440 튜닝보다 살짝 높게 튜닝되어 있어, 살짝 불협한듯 하면서 날카로운 맛을 풍긴다.
