신디 로퍼(Cyndi Lauper)는 미국의 싱어송라이터 겸 배우. 1980년대 팝 역사에서 빼놓을 수 없는 보컬리스트이며 팝의 여왕 자리를 놓고 당대의 마돈나, 자넷 잭슨과 자웅을 겨루었던 여성 솔로 팝의 아이콘 중 한 명이다.

데뷔곡 "Girls Just Want to Have Fun"이 싱글 차트 2위까지 오르며 밀리언 셀러를 기록한 것을 시작으로 "Time After Time"(싱글 차트 1위), "She Bop"(3위), "All Through the Night"(5위) 등 첫 앨범에서만 무려 4곡의 싱글 차트 Top 5 히트곡을 쏟아냈고, 데뷔 앨범은 미국 내에서만 무려 6백만 장의 판매고를 기록했다. 당시 바야흐로 MTV가 '보는 음악'의 시대를 열었던 시점이라 이에 발맞추어 재기 발랄한 뮤직비디오를 선보이며 특히 젊은 세대로부터 큰 인기를 얻었다. 이러한 성공에 힘입어 1985년 그래미 시상식에서 최우수 신인상을 수상했다.
