카밀라 카베요는 1997년 쿠바에서 태어났습니다. 카밀라의 아버지는 멕시코인이다. 카밀라의 가족은 멕시코와 쿠바를 오가다, 카밀라가 5살 때 미국으로 이주했다.
카밀라 카베요는 오디션 프로그램 ‘디 엑스 팩터(The X Factor)’의 미국판 시즌 2에서 ‘피프스 하모니(Fifth Harmony)’를 결성하며 연예계에 데뷔했다. 카밀라 카베요는 피프스 하모니에서도 유독 돋보였다. 인기도 많았고, 파트도 언제나 가장 많았다. ‘워스 잇(Worth It)’ 등 히트곡에서도 가장 중요한 부분을 도맡았다. 캐나다의 신예 싱어송라이터 션 멘데스(Shawn Mendes)와 ‘아이 노우 왓 유 디드 라스트 써머( I Know What You Did Last Summer)’를 발표하는 등 솔로 프로젝트에도 열심이었다.
2016년 2집 발매 후 얼마 지나지 않아 카밀라 카베요는 솔로 앨범을 발매했고, 또 얼마 지나지 않아 피프스 하모니 탈퇴를 발표한다. 2017년 10월에 발표한 곡 ‘하바나’가 대박을 터트리며 카밀라는 단숨에 솔로 가수 정상에 서게 된다. 라틴 팝 열풍을 탄 이 곡이 피프스 하모니도 기록해보지 못한 빌보드 1위에 오른 것이다. 카베요는 살사를 적극 도입했고, 자신이 태어난 도시 하바나를 붙여 큰 성공을 거둡니다. 곡의 성공 이후로 솔로 앨범 ‘카밀라(Camila)’ 또한 빌보드 앨범 차트 1위로 데뷔합니다. 단숨에 최고의 솔로 가수가 된 것이다.
2019년 6월, 그는 새로운 곡 ‘세뇨리타(Senorita)’를 발표한다. 2015년 피프스 하모니 시절 첫 번째 솔로 프로젝트 ‘아이 노우 왓 유 디드 라스트 써머(I Know What You Did Last Summer)’를 함께 했던 싱어송라이터 션 멘데스와의 합작이었다. ‘세뇨리타’ 또한 빌보드 1위를 차지하며 카밀라 카베요가 최고의 가수임을 다시 한번 증명한다.
